I think that as we get older, we lose our curiosity. You can call it being “jaded” or whatever you want, but it’s true.

I sat next to a baby on my flight back to school and I couldn’t help but notice the curiosity in his eyes. They were open really wide as if he really needed to take in all of his surroundings to understand it. He wasn’t able to process what was going on, so he did his best to observe. “Who are these two men sitting next to me? Why is it so loud? Why are my ears hurting?”

We don’t really remember what it’s like to be a child anymore because we’ve changed. We think we know what the world is supposed to be like, or how the world really is, and no longer are trying to understand the world. (I do concede that this is a generalization, as researchers are perpetually trying to understand more about the world) But here’s the thing - just because it’s impossible to completely understand life, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t keep our minds open to new experiences/explanations of things.

In my opinion, if you close your mind, you fall behind. The world doesn’t stop for anybody. While I don’t know the meaning of life, I do want to make the most of it, and that means not getting trapped by the cage of a closed mind.
